Transit funding, as we’ve seen in recent announcements from Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (THUD) and other federal bills, is being reduced and transit agencies need the support of their partners in the private sector. As a result, we’re stepping up our commitment.

We announced the $1M Uber Transit Innovation Fund in the spring with the vision of supporting up to 20 forward-thinking public transit agencies, municipalities, and regional authorities in the US with up to $50,000 in funding.

We received an overwhelming interest from both US and Canadian agencies who are feeling pressure and wanting to solve problems with innovative projects aimed at keeping their communities moving.

Due to the abundance of applications and our continued commitment to public transit, we are increasing our initial investment to accommodate more agencies and expanding the fund to include Canadian agencies.

In addition to our first cohort of nine winners, we’re excited to announce an additional 26 Innovation Fund recipients, bringing the total funding awarded to $1.7M

From microtransit in Oregon to food access in Richmond, Virginia the use cases we received were diverse. These agencies serve communities ranging from urban centers to suburban and semi-rural areas, helping fill gaps in public transit and creating stronger, more connected transportation networks.

More funding, more impact

To date, the Uber Transit Innovation Fund has granted $1,705,000. But our commitment is far from over.

By the end of the month, we’ll unlock more funding and award additional recipients. For more information on what we do, visit our website.
