Joe Sullivan, Chief Security Officer at Uber
Joe currently serves as Uber’s Chief Security Officer. Previously, Joe served as the Chief Security Officer at Facebook, where he managed the teams responsible for information security, product security, investigations, and law enforcement relations. Prior to joining Facebook in 2008, Joe spent over six years working in a number of different security and legal roles at PayPal and eBay, which included overseeing user safety policies and global law enforcement relations, guiding eBay’s regulatory compliance efforts, and managing PayPal’s North America legal team. Before entering the private sector, Joe spent eight years with the U.S. Department of Justice.

Ed Davis, Uber Safety Advisory Board
Edward F. Davis has been in law enforcement for 35 years. He served as the 40th Police Commissioner of Boston from 2006-2013, overseeing police services for more than 600,000 residents along with those visiting and working in the city of Boston, including during the tragic Marathon bombing. He began his career at the Lowell Police Department where he spent 28 years, starting out as a patrol officer and eventually being promoted to Superintendent of Police, a position he held for 12 years. Following his retirement in 2013, Commissioner Davis founded his own consulting business and currently advises many of the world’s top corporations on security and safety issues.

As a member of Uber’s Safety Advisory Board — an independent groups of experts with decades of experience in technology, security, safety, the Commissioner provides counsel to Uber’s executives and safety teams on how to reduce risk and increase safety for riders, drivers and the general public. His recommendations have been critical in developing safety protocols and how the company works with law enforcement officials.

Margaret Richardson, Uber Safety Advisory Board
Margaret Richardson advises clients at Covington on white collar defense matters, including government and internal investigations, and other significant regulatory and litigation matters. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Richardson was the Chief of Staff and Counselor to Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr. As Chief of Staff, she served as principal advisor to the Attorney General on all matters before the Department of Justice, including criminal investigations and prosecutions, complex civil litigation, and closely-held national security matters. Ms. Richardson often served as the Department’s chief liaison to both the White House and other U.S. government agencies.

Ms. Richardson implemented many of the Obama Administration’s most significant domestic and international legal and policy initiatives, including criminal justice reform, protection of voting rights, advancing marriage equality, cybersecurity and surveillance reform, countering violent extremism, updating federal investigative guidelines relating to members of the media, asset-forfeiture reform, reestablishing diplomatic relations with Cuba, and addressing systematic financial fraud.
