Picking up riders from private resident communities in Florida can sometimes be difficult and confusing. Here is some guidance that will help ensure the smoothest pick-up and drop-off experience for you and riders.

Drop-off

  • You should not have any issues if you are dropping someone off at a private resident community.
  • When you arrive at the gate, announce that you are dropping off a resident and, if necessary, ask the rider to identify themselves to front-gate security to gain access to the community.

Pick-up

When picking up a rider in a private resident community:

  • Accept the request as usual.
  • Reach out to the rider as soon as you are aware that they are located in a private resident community. Tell them your name, that you are their Uber driver, and that you’re on your way to pick them up.
  • Ask the rider to call front-gate security to ensure that you will be granted access (issued a pass) to the community upon arrival. This should allow you to enter the community without paying an access fee.
  • Once you have arrived at the gate, tell the guard the name of the rider that you are there to pick up.
  • If front-gate security does not let you in, contact the rider on speakerphone to confirm your arrival and ask them to have front-gate security grant you access.
  • If front-gate security still refuses to grant your access, inform the rider that they will have to come to the front gate to meet you for pick-up.
  • You should never feel obligated to pay for a pass to gain entrance.
