One week ago today, we launched uberX in St. Louis. In the first weekend alone, St. Louisans took more than 5,000 rides. Forty percent of those rides occurred during late-night hours when there’s a higher risk of drinking and driving. Providing a ride home at the tap of a button helps those enjoying St. Louis’ rich nightlife get home safely.

But there’s more. Starting today and through the next month, we’re partnering with local bars, restaurants, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Missouri to support our shared mission to end drinking and driving here in St. Louis.

How it works:

Alongside participating bars, Uber will offer a FREE first ride up to $20 for new users who enter the promo code SAFESTL anywhere in St. Louis. Uber also will donate $5 to MADD for every first ride taken starting now and continuing through October.

Atomic Cowboy | The International Tap House | The Schlafley Tap Room | Urban Chestnut Brewery | Big Daddy’s in Soulard and On The Landing | John D. McGurk’s Irish Pub and Garden | Thaxton Speakeasy Van Ghoghz Martini Bar & Bistro | Drunken Fish
Additional establishments throughout St. Louis

Demand for Uber spikes when alcohol-related incidents are at their highest

When a safe, affordable, and reliable transportation option is available, more people will make responsible decisions. We’ve seen DUI rates decline in Uber cities across the country – let’s do the same in St. Louis.

Stay safe.
