At Uber, our vision for the future is one where everyone, wherever they live and whatever their income, has access to affordable, reliable transportation. It’s why we have a variety of options – from POOL to uberX and uberBLACK – to help people get where they want to go at a price point that works for them.

Starting next week, we’re taking another step towards our vision, by piloting Uber Bike by JUMP – a bike share option – in San Francisco. Riders in the pilot will be able to find and book a JUMP pedal assist electric bike directly from the Uber app.

Once you’re in the pilot, it’s simple to use Uber Bike by JUMP. Just tap the “bike” option in the app’s menu located at the top left corner of the home screen. From there, you’ll be able to see available JUMP bikes near you, and reserve one. Once the ride is complete, you can lock the bike to any public rack in the bike zone shown on the app’s map.For San Franciscans interested in trying out Uber Bike by JUMP, please join our waitlist and we’ll let you know when we have an available spot. Since there are only 250 JUMP bikes available in the city, unfortunately we can’t grant access to all of our riders immediately. JUMP will be managing operations to ensure bikes are well-utilized and nearby when you need one, and maximizing the availability of bikes in the city.

Having a greater variety of transportation modes at your fingertips helps make it increasingly easy to live life without a car. We’re particularly excited about bikes because they can provide a convenient, environmentally friendly ride even in dense cities where space is limited and roads can be congested. While it’s just one small step, pilots like Uber Bike by JUMP can add up to major progress, and we can’t wait to see how it goes.
