Last week, Houstonians dodged the rain and headed to Kirby Ice House to relax under the covered patio, grab a drink with friends, and indulge in food truck fare. We met with Jillian Vasquez, Event Coordinator for Kirby Ice House, to find out what makes the bar “a neighborhood pearl.”

“We’re the only bar of our size in the Upper Kirby area. I think being centrally located is the appeal of Kirby Ice House,” Vasquez said.

The size isn’t the only appeal of Kirby Ice House; its concept marries a relaxed environment with Upper Kirby’s aesthetics.

“People love our dog-friendly patio,” she said. “We must see anywhere from 50-150 dogs every week, so providing doggy bowls and plenty of water is a must!”

With over 50 beers on tap and a rotating cocktail menu, Kirby Ice House brings in patrons from all over Houston. The ice house sees a mix of people every week, whether it’s businessmen and their clients, beer enthusiasts sampling the latest offerings, or sports fans catching their favorite teams on the bar’s multiple TVs.

Looking for an opportunity to check it out for yourself? This Saturday, August 6, Kirby Ice House and Kona Brewing Co. will be hosting a Hawaiian-inspired pig roast complete with entertainment, hula dancers, and a raffle.

“Our guests just love the atmosphere,” Vasquez points out. “While we all live in a big city, running into your friends at Kirby Ice House makes it feel like a small town at the same time.”
