Emergency assistance button

You can use the in-app emergency button to call authorities to get help if you need it. The app displays your location and trip details, so you can quickly share them with emergency services.

Friends and family can follow your route and will know as soon as you arrive.

2-way ratings

Your feedback matters. Low-rated trips are logged, and users may be removed to protect the Uber community.

GPS tracking

All Uber trips are tracked from start to finish, so there’s a record of your trip if something happens.

Rider verification through official ID, Facebook and payment methods

We implemented a multi-step safety verification process through which users might be requested to scan an official ID or submit their Facebook account when they choose cash as their payment method. If their payment method is electronic (credit, debit, or PayPal), we verify their relevant information.

Automatic learning technology in security measures

In order to identify in real time possible risks that may arise, the technology implemented through automated algorithms allows Uber to block potentially unsafe trips.


Using sensors and GPS data, RideCheck can help detect if a trip has an unexpected long stop. If so, we'll check on you and offer tools to get help.
