Rome-Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport opened in 1961 to welcome passengers traveling to the booming Italian capital of Rome. It’s one of 2 airports in the city and is known as the main hub airport, helping to handle nearly 50 million passengers each year across 2 busy runways. The airport lies on the Italian coast 30 kilometers (18 miles) to the west of Rome city center, making it a 30-minute Uber trip away in ideal driving conditions.
