What is a CDL, or a Commercial Driver’s License?

April 16, 2015 / US

A CDL is a Commercial Driver’s License. Many driving jobs, like bus, and truck require you to get a special license. Unlike a regular driver’s license, a CDL requires you to pass additional tests that demonstrate that you have the physical ability and expertise necessary to safely drive a commercial vehicle. It can cost anywhere from $100-$300 to get your CDL, depending on your program. Classes can also range in length from 2 weeks to several months.

Of course, you don’t need a special CDL license to drive with Uber. All you need is your normal driver’s license. That’s why Uber is such a popular new way to get paid weekly for driving your own. A lot of people are choosing to drive with Uber because they like being their own boss and earning great money on a flexible schedule.
