We are pleased to share the news that Margarita Peker has taken up the role of general manager of our Mobility business in Taiwan. An Australian with more than five years experience at Uber, Margarita has moved to Taipei to take up the position. She replaces Raymund Li who has progressed to a new role as regional manager for Mobility in Southern, Central and Eastern Europe.

Margarita joined Uber in 2017, and has worked in marketing and operations roles in Australia. In her most recent role as operations director for Australia & New Zealand, she was responsible for growth, consumer products and regional profitability. Margarita has also taken on positions within Uber’s global leadership team for our Uber One membership program, alongside other international customer engagement programs.

Prior to joining Uber, Margarita was a strategy and communications consultant working with brands in hospitality, media and consmer sectors. She was named in Australia and the USA’s 30 Under 30 awards for the marketing industry, and spent two years as a trustee of the Awesome Foundation

Commenting on her new role, Margarita said: “In my short time here, I have been impressed with the hospitality of the Taiwanese people and the vibrancy of this market . It’s clear that Uber is already playing a critical role in this transport landscape, having reshaped service expectations and provided economic opportunities for over 10,000 drivers and fleet partners. It’s early days, but I can also see there are opportunities for Uber to develop even stronger partnerships with cities in Taiwan. I can’t wait to begin in earnest.

Margarita will work alongside Chai Lee, who runs Uber Eats in Taiwan. Encouraging gender diversity is a priority for Uber globally and in Taiwan. It’s great to welcome another female leader to the team.
