Driver-partners have felt the sting of record-high prices at the pump, which has affected how much they are able to earn on the Uber platform. In an effort to reduce the burden of high fuel costs, a temporary fuel surcharge will take effect on Wednesday, 23 March 2022.
Beginning Wednesday, riders will pay a surcharge of $0.38 per km on each Uber trip (including Uber Taxi and trips taken on electric vehicles) — 100% of the surcharge would go directly to the driver-partners. While this is a temporary and short term initiative, it will be effective for at least the next 60 days until Sunday, 22 May 2022.
We know that it has not been easy, especially at times like this as work, life and travel have been impacted by the most severe yet fifth wave. Over the coming weeks, we plan to listen closely to feedback from riders and driver-partners particularly in relation to fuel price movement to see if further adjustments are needed.
Please stay tuned for Uber’s latest updates.
