What could you do in the three minutes it takes for your Uber to arrive?

How about registering to vote?

At Uber, we’re passionate about the cities and countries we operate in. And we believe they work best when everyone has a say in their future.

But millions of people across the UK are giving up their right to have a say in the upcoming EU referendum by failing to register to vote.

That’s especially the case among young people. Around one in three eligible 18-24 year olds are still not registered. Put simply, that means they’re missing out on having their say.

That’s why, this weekend, we’re supporting Bite the Ballot’s campaign to get as many people as possible to register to vote ahead of the EU referendum.

From Friday afternoon until Monday night, we’ll be supporting Bite the Ballot’s efforts by giving our riders across the UK a friendly in-app reminder to register before the 7th June deadline.

When all it takes to register is your smartphone, your national insurance number and three minutes of your time, there’s nothing stopping you.

“There are 7.5 million people who are not registered to vote in the UK and many of them are young people. Bite The Ballot are excited to be working with Uber as part of our #TurnUp campaign to register young people to vote ahead of the EU referendum. Through partnering with Uber, an app that millions of people across the UK use, we will be able to empower citizens to register to vote and turn up on June 23.”
