NYE RIDE GUIDE
Written byThe bubbles are flowing, fireworks glowing and you’re celebrating the end of the year with your family and friends. Follow the tips below and the only thing you’ll have to worry about is keeping your resolutions in 2016!
Dynamic Pricing
Dynamic pricing applies to ensure there’s always a ride available – no matter what the occasion.
On New Year’s Eve, demand for Uber tends to peak between 12.30 and 3am, when everyone’s leaving the party. At time like these – when demand outstrips supply – increased rates may apply to encourage more drivers to come to the area.
Dynamic pricing shouldn’t be a surprise. You’ll always be notified if higher prices are in effect and you can run a Fare Estimate in the app before you ride.
TIPS FOR NEW YEARS EVE
Check the price
You’ll be asked to confirm an increased rate if Dynamic Pricing is in effect. Let’s toast to you running a Fare Estimate in the app before you ride.
Split your fare
Use Fare Split if you’re rolling with the whole party.
Confirm your driver
You wouldn’t want to walk into the wrong party, so make sure you don’t walk into the wrong car. Confirm your driver’s name, photo, car model and licence plate in the app before you hop in. If you’re still not sure, you can always text or call your driver.
Keep your number masked
If you can’t find your driver or want to share more pick up information, call or text through the app —your number will always stay anonymous.
Send your status
Let your friends count down to the moment you arrive. Share your ETA – which includes your driver’s first name and vehicle information as well as your estimated time of arrival – to friends or family directly through the app.
Uber resolutions
Resolve to be considerate to your driver and follow our Code of Conduct so that everyone can enjoy the spirit of the season.
