This Christmas, we’re giving healthcare workers in the UK two £10 Uber rides and £10 to spend on a meal or groceries on Uber Eats. The promotion will be available to staff with a valid NHS or HSC email address to use between 24 and 25 December 2024, subject to availability.

How to claim the offer

  1. Update your Uber/Uber Eats account to an NHS or HSC email address by 23:59 on 20 December 2024
  2. Receive your promo codes via email from Uber on 23 December 2024
  3. Apply your promo codes to your Uber/Uber Eats account in-app
  4. Enjoy your 2 x £10 rides and 1 x £10 food delivery on 24 or 25 December 2024

How to claim your free rides

First, ensure your Uber account is linked to your NHS or HSC email address by 23:59 on 20 December 2024. To change the email address associated with your Uber account:

  • Tap ‘Account’ on the bottom right of the Uber app
  • Tap on your profile picture
  • Tap ‘Account info’
  • You can now view and edit your email address

Once updated, you will be sent a verification email – please click the link in that email to validate your email address.

If you don’t currently have an Uber account, you can sign up here. Make sure to sign up using your NHS or HSC email address. You must update your email address by 23:59 on 20 December 2024 in order to receive a promotion code.

On 23 December 2024, you’ll be emailed a promo code which you’ll need to add to your Uber account in order to claim the offer. The email will provide instructions on how to do so. After applying the code, the promotion will be automatically included in the upfront price you see when requesting a trip.The offer will be valid for up to two £10 free rides per NHS or HSC staff member and can be redeemed on 24 or 25 December.

How to claim your free meal

First, ensure your Uber Eats account is linked to your NHS or HSC email address by 23:59 on 20 December 2024. To change the email address associated with your Uber Eats account:

  • Tap ‘Account’ on the bottom right of the Uber Eats app
  • Scroll down and tap ‘Manage Uber account’
  • Tap ‘Account Info’
  • You can now view and edit your email address

Once updated, you will be sent a verification email – please click the link in that email to validate your email address.

You must update your email address by 23:59 on 20 December 2024 in order to receive a promotion code. On 23 December 2024, you’ll be emailed a promo code which you’ll need to add to your Uber Eats account in order to claim the offer. The email will provide instructions on how to do so. After applying the code, the discount will be reflected in the order total at checkout. The offer will be valid for one £10 free meal per NHS or HSC staff member and can be redeemed on 24 or 25 December 2024.

Things to know

  • Uber will cover up to £10 of the trip fare for two separate rides If the fare exceeds £10, you will be charged the difference. The discount will appear in the upfront price. 
  • The Uber rides promo needs to be redeemed on two separate trips. You will not be able to combine the two promos into one trip.
  • The promotion code needs to be added to your Uber account before requesting a ride or food delivery. If this is not done, the promotion will not apply.
  • The promotion will not apply to cancelled trips or trips taken using Business Profiles.
  • Uber Eats will cover up to £10 of your meal. If the total exceeds £10, you will be charged the difference.
  • Promo codes will be shared in advance of the promotional window.
  • The promo codes will cease working at 23:59 on 25 December 2024.

  • We want to show our appreciation to the many NHS and Health and Social Care staff tirelessly working through Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, especially during a time when public transport options are limited or unavailable.

  • All NHS and HSC staff across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales can register to claim two Uber trips (each worth up to £10)  and one meal via Uber Eats (up to £10) during the Christmas period.

  • We have supported NHS and HSC staff with free trips and meals for the past seven years.

  • Update your email address by 23:59 on 20 December 2024. You will not be able to receive a code unless you have updated by this point. Users who have updated their email address with a valid NHS or HSC email address will receive separate promo codes for the free trips and free meal on 23 December 2024.

  • You have to be aged 18 years or over and be an NHS or HSC staff member.

  • Yes, you will need to download the Uber and Uber Eats app and create an account if you don’t already have one. You must make sure that your Uber and Uber Eats accounts are linked to your NHS or HSC email address.

  • You must use an active NHS or HSC email address, ending in:

    @nhs.uk

    @nhs.scot

    @nhs.net

    @hscni.net

  • NHS and HSC staff are eligible for two Uber rides (up to £10 each) and £10 to use on Uber Eats. Please note that delivery and service fees will apply to Uber Eats orders.

  • If your journey exceeds £10, you’ll need to pay the difference. Make sure your Uber account is linked to a valid payment method when you download the app.

  • If you updated and verified your email address by 23:59 on 20 December 2024, two promotion codes will be sent to your NHS or HSC email inbox. Don’t forget to check your spam folder if the email doesn’t appear in your inbox. 

  • Yes, the code will only be valid on rides or orders on Christmas Eve (24 December) and Christmas Day (25 December).

  • Yes. You’ll be sent a promo code for the two free rides to use in the Uber app, and a code for the free meal to use in the Uber Eats app.

  • If you’ve followed the instructions above but still can’t update your email address, it’s likely due to a duplicate Uber account. Try logging into the duplicate account to update the email address. If you’re still unable to update it, please contact our customer support team for assistance.

  • No, the same code will apply to both rides, covering up to £10 each. Please note that the two ride credits cannot be combined for a single trip.

  • No, only one promotion can be applied per trip. If multiple promotions are available on your account, the highest-value offer will be automatically applied.

  • For issues with Uber rides, please contact us through the Help section in your Uber app. For issues related to Uber Eats, use the Help section in the Uber Eats app. Note that phone support for Uber Eats is only available for live order issues.

  • Please note the promotion does not cover cancellation fees, tips, or trips made using Business Profiles. The Uber Eats promotion does not apply to delivery fees.

  • Drivers receive the same fare on these trips as they do for regular Uber journeys. Uber funds the promotion by covering part of the fare on your behalf. 

    • Download or open the Uber app (make sure you are using the latest version)
    • Tap ‘Account’ in the bottom right and select ‘Wallet’
    • Scroll down to the ‘Promotions’ section
    • Select ‘Add Promo Code’ and enter the promotion code
    • Download or open the Uber Eats app (make sure you are using the latest version)
    • Tap on 'Account' within the menu at the bottom 
    • Select ‘Promotions’
    • Then select ‘Enter promo code’ and enter the promotion code
