London’s Hammersmith and Fulham: South Fulham Clean Air Neighbourhood
14 February / United KingdomHammersmith and Fulham Council introduced a Clean Air Neighbourhood in South Fulham in July 2020, and the scheme has since been expanded. The Council have shared more information on the scheme here.
New area of the Clean Air Neighbourhood west of Wandsworth Bridge Road from December 1st, 2022.
What does this mean?
There are several Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras in the neighbourhood. These are designed to discourage drivers from using the neighbourhood streets as a cut through route between Wandsworth Bridge Road and New Kings Road.
What if I have a pickup or dropoff in the area?
The Clean Air Neighbourhood should not prevent you from picking up or dropping off riders. Drivers with pickup or dropoff within the zone will be automatically exempted from receiving a fine if they drive through ANPR cameras.
In the event that you drive through an ANPR camera while making a pickup or dropoff, Uber and the council have worked together on a technical solution to prevent drivers from receiving a fine.
The Council has advised that every single street remains accessible via specific access points, shown here.
All drivers that are residents of Hammersmith and Fulham Council are registered already and can drive through the cameras without incurring fines.
What can I do if I receive a fine?
Drivers with pickup or dropoffs within the area should be automatically exempted from receiving a fine. If you were making a pickup or dropoff in the area, whilst on an Uber trip, this may have been issued in error and you can have this exempted by sharing evidence of your trip with Hammersmith and Fulham Council, in the form of a screenshot of the Trip Receipt including the pickup or dropoff address. The Council has assured us that they will cancel fines upon receipt of such evidence.
You can share evidence of your trip via email at enquiries@lbhfparking.com or call 020 8753 3849. Please note you do not need to share evidence if you have not been issued a fine.
If you drive through the cameras on a trip, and the pick up or drop off area is not within the zone (ie: you have used the area as a cut through), you may be fined and this may not receive an exemption.
