In our journey to becoming a zero emissions platform by 2040, we want to help encourage the adoption of electric vehicles by bringing exclusive offers to driver-partners on the Uber platform in Australia.

What’s happening?

Currently, eligible driver-partners in Australia can rent-to-own a brand-new eligible premium electric vehicle from Splend and get a 50% reduction in service fee as a part of Uber’s EV program

Driver-partners who rent-to-own the Polestar 2 from Splend (in Sydney only) can enjoy a reduction of up to $6,000 per financial year.

Driver-partners who rent-to-own the Tesla Model Y or Model 3 from Splend can enjoy a reduction of up to $3,500 per financial year. Moreover, both vehicles are eligible for Uber Comfort and Uber Premier trips in addition to Uber X, enabling driver-partners to earn more on each trip with these ride options.

Check out the vehicle marketplace to find more details on the models!

Why are we doing this?

Australians are increasingly making the switch to electric vehicles and doing their bit to help the planet. But it’s challenging to get an EV with the current supply constraints and high upfront costs.

This partnership with Splend gives driver-partners exclusive access to transition to a premium EV and ability to pay down the cost over several years as they earn on the platform.

This initiative will also allow Uber to launch “Comfort Electric”, a premium all-electric rides offering, in 2023 where riders can request trips in a 100% zero-emissions EV.

Terms and Conditions

This offer is available to driver-partners in Australia who: (i) have completed more than 1,500 trips; (ii) have a rating above 4.85; (iii) have had no at-fault vehicle accidents in the past 3 years; and (iv) meet any other eligibility criteria under the applicable vehicle’s rental terms set forth by Splend. Driver partners must also continue to meet all of the driving and documentary requirements for driving with the Uber app to be eligible for this offer. Uber is not responsible for the products or services offered by Splend, or for the terms and conditions (including financial terms) under which those products and services are offered.

Service fee reduction of 50% is available until 30 June 2025, to a maximum of:

  1. $6,000 per financial year (1 July – 30 June) for driver-partners who rent-to-own a Polestar 2 from Splend in Sydney only (maximum 500 spots available); and
  2. $3,500 per financial year (1 July – 30 June) for driver-partners who rent-to-own a Tesla Model Y or Model 3 from Splend (maximum 250 spots available).
