North Queensland, a better way to get around has arrived

March 15, 2017 / Queensland

We’re thrilled to introduce a better way to get around for Townsville and Cairns residents from 12pm today.

With today’s launch of uberX, locals will be able to push a button and get a safe, reliable and affordable ride across both towns within minutes.

Ridesharing will be a great addition to the transport mix in Townsville and Cairns, which will help take pressure off existing options during peak periods, especially at the weekend.

Drivers ready to hit the road

We’ve been humbled by the positive response from the community. More than an 150 North Queenslanders have jumped at the opportunity to earn some extra income driving on their own schedule.

These savvy, entrepreneurial driver-partners are ready to take you where you need to be, so download the Uber app now to start moving around Cairns and Townsville in style.

Celebrating North Queensland – share and support the Royal Flying Doctor Service

We’re all about celebrating the regions we operate in and organisations that make a difference in the community.

To mark our launch in Cairns and Townsville, we’ll be donating $10 to the Queensland Royal Flying Doctor Service for every new rider who signs up to Uber and takes a trip using the promo code NORTHQLD between now and 16 April 2017. We’ll also give them their first ride free up to $20 so there is no excuse not to get involved.

The funds will help the Royal Flying Doctor Service continue to give regional Australians the care they need.
