Uber and Rare Birds are excited to announce the winners of the inaugural Business Booster Live Pitch event,held on Thursday, 11 May 2023 in Sydney.
An entrepreneurial spirit lies within the earner community. We know many of you who drive and deliver on the Uber and Uber Eats platforms also have other small businesses on the side, or an idea for a business that they’d love to work on. This is why we partnered with Rare Birds to launch the Business Booster Program last year, an accelerator program designed exclusively for earners-entrepreneurs like you.
7 months, 2000+ applicants, and 12 weeks of learning sessions later, 100 driven and passionate driver partners and delivery people completed the first ever Business Booster Program, and 10 finalists were selected to pitch live in Sydney for a chance to win a share of $100,000 in additional grant funding.

From 2000 applications to 100 participants, we are now happy to announce the 3 winners selected at the Business Booster Live Pitch Event!
Congratulations to our first place winner, Steve Blain.
Founder of DBO Golf
Steve, a driver partner from Brisbane with a 5 star rating, is the founder of DBO Golf. Steve took out first place honours, and the top prize – a $50,000 grant. Steve’s product, T-Up Assist, is simple yet genius, and the judges could see a clear role for the product in people’s lives.
In Second Place, Congratulations To Georgios Dimitriou!
Founder of Astro Advanced Analytics
Georgios’ business, Astro Advanced Analytics, was well researched and structured, and his pitch was confident and clear. Georgios walked away with second prize of $20,000 to help him build Astro.
In joint third place, congratulations to Julie Mlinaric and Thomas Schalch!
Julie Mlinaric – Founder of Wands of Lust | Thomas Schalch – Founder of Whiskr
With the competition so close, the total prize pool was increased so that both Julie (Wands of Lust) and Tom (Whiskr) could be awarded joint 3rd place, each receiving $10,000 in grant money.
All other Finalists were awarded $3,000 in grant funding.
