Foire aux questions
- How do I rent a car to drive with Uber?
To rent a car from one of our vehicle partners and earn with the Uber app, you’ll first need to sign up to drive. Next, you can visit Uber’s Vehicle Marketplace to see which vehicle offers are available in your city. Once you’ve selected the option that best suits your needs, follow the vehicle partner’s instructions to reserve and pick up your rental car.
- How much does it cost to rent a car to drive with Uber?
Typically, the rental cost will vary depending on the type of vehicle you select and the vehicle partner. To find more information about pricing through one of our vehicle partners, go to this site.
- How does Uber’s program with rental-car partners work?
We launched the Vehicle Marketplace program to help drivers without access to a qualifying car find an opportunity to earn with Uber. We’ve now partnered with Hertz (Avis coming soon) so that drivers can get a road-ready car at a low commitment. Once you’ve identified the rental offer that best suits your needs, you’ll complete the booking directly with the vehicle partner. Afterward, return the car based on the vehicle partner’s instructions when it’s time.
- Can you lease or rent a car through Uber?
No. We started the Vehicle Marketplace program to help drivers without a qualifying vehicle connect with rental companies and have an opportunity to earn with Uber. Offers provided by our vehicle partners are available to help meet the needs of drivers. These vehicle partners in Canada offer eligible drivers the opportunity to rent by the week.
- How much is the deposit or Start Fee to rent a car from a vehicle partner?
Le montant que vous payez à l'avance dépend du partenaire du véhicule auprès duquel vous louez le véhicule. Avec Hertz, vous paierez un dépôt de garantie remboursable de 265 $ CA pour une location à la semaine¹.
- Where can I rent a car through a vehicle partner?
Currently, Uber vehicle partners offer car rentals to drivers in Montreal and Vancouver with more cities coming soon.
- Is there a penalty for cancelling my rental car?
Since your rental agreement will be directly with one of our vehicle partners, it’s best to contact the company you rent from directly to understand its cancellation policies.
- Do I pay insurance when renting a car through a vehicle partner?
All rental offers come with auto insurance maintained either by the vehicle partner and/or Uber. The type of auto insurance coverage depends on if you are online or offline with the Uber app, and where you are operating the vehicle. For more details on exact coverage for your province, visit the Uber Driver Insurance page.
- Can I use my own rental car to drive with Uber?
Please confirm with your rental provider whether they agree to have the vehicle used for commercial purposes. To see currently available rental options through our vehicle partners, visit Uber's Vehicle Marketplace.
- What if approved rental options aren’t available in my area?
If you’re listed as an insured party on someone else's vehicle insurance plan and that car meets Uber’s vehicle requirements, you may use that vehicle to earn with Uber.
