Information

Uber at YHM

Riders at YHM can request Uber when leaving the airport. Here are a few things to keep in mind.

  • Driver cancellations: Trip cancellations can take away from the great Uber experience that both riders and driver-partners expect. Please remember that driver-partners who improperly use the app and intentionally disrupt the service, including excessively canceling rides or asking riders to cancel rides, may lose the ability to receive trip requests to and from the airport through the Uber Driver app.

  • Ground transportation and airport security staff: Airport rules are as important as traffic rules. Airports expect Driver-partners to follow the instructions of the airport staff.

  • Trade dress: The Uber vehicle decal (trade dress) must always be displayed on the rear passenger window facing outward. Driver-partners can obtain this Uber decal by mail by using this form.

Airport fees

All pickups and dropoffs at YHM will now have a $1 and a $2 surcharge automatically added to the fare respectively. This surcharge will be remitted to the airport by Uber. Your agreement has been updated to reflect this change and it will not impact your earnings.

How pickup requests work

Pickups at YHM

It's easy to receive trip requests from riders leaving the airport. The dedicated pickup location is located at the west end sidewalk along the terminal curb.

Based on feedback from YHM, please be mindful of:

  • Waiting in the areas in and around airport grounds, but avoid loitering at the terminal curb.
  • Respecting the waiting areas of taxi or shuttle operators.
  • Meeting your rider in their selected pickup location
  • If the airport is crowded, consider contacting your rider using the Uber driver app to confirm their exact location

Waiting for requests

You‘ll only get trip requests at the airport when you’re located in the waiting lot. Once you enter the lot, you’ll be placed in a virtual queue where the first driver to enter will be the first to receive a trip request.

How dropoff requests work

Dropoffs at YHM

Uber is a reliable option for travelers heading to their airport.

The dedicated dropoff location is located at the west end sidewalk along the terminal curb.

Rematch

We've launched the Rematch feature at this airport. To qualify for Rematch, you must first complete a dropoff at the airport. Rematch then allows any driver-partner who just completed an airport dropoff to receive a pickup request without having to wait in the Waiting Area.

If you don’t receive a request within a few moments, this means there are no Rematch trips available and you should go to the waiting area if you would like to wait for a request.

Please note that waiting around the terminal will not increase your chances of receiving a Rematch. If available, Rematch will only occur a few moments after you complete an airport dropoff.

Airport regulations prohibit loitering in the terminal area. Idling at the curb may result in a citation from airport authorities.

Helpful tips for airport trips

Pro tips

Getting your car ready: Air travellers can have lots of luggage with them, so you may need to free up trunk space to fit it all in.

Helping with luggage: It may take some time for riders to load their luggage into your vehicle. The airport is a busy place, so an extra set of hands can speed things up and help get your riders to their destination faster.

Keeping the airport waiting area clean: The rideshare waiting area at YHM is equipped with toilets and trash cans. The facilities at the waiting area is on YHM property and for everyone to use. Being respectful of these facilities and the grounds creates a better environment for everyone.

Identifying your riders: Asking your riders for their names before starting a trip can ensure that you've picked up the right person out of the crowd.

Making music optional: While tunes are nice to cruise to, riders may prefer silence after an early morning or late night flight. Asking them what they prefer can go a long way and help provide a great experience!

Checking the arrivals schedule: Checking the arrivals schedule at YHM can help you maximize your earnings with information about when flights will be landing at the airport and when it will be the busiest. See YHM arrivals schedule.

Airport surcharges

Riders fees

Rideshare drivers

This airport charges a $3.15 fee for all TNC pickups and drop-offs. This fee is in addition to the $1.55 booking fee and is charged directly to the rider. Uber coordinates repayment of this fee directly to the airport.

To learn more about these fees and regulations, please reference Port Ordinance 4255 as adopted by the Board of Port Commissioners.

Commercial drivers

Commercial drivers using UberBLACK and UberSUV maintain their own airport permits. Because of this, there is no surcharge added to these premium trips.
