    • Driver's licence: 21+ years old, Class 1, 2, or 4 licences are accepted. Class 5 is not accepted. Make sure to avoid using flash so that your information is clear and readable. • If you are waiting for your renewed PR card, upload a photo of your current PR card and PR card extension letter
  • To drive with Uber in Edmonton, you must have a valid Class 1, 2, or 4 licence. You can find more about the process of getting your licence by clicking the link below.

Already have a Class 1, 2, or 4 licence? You can skip this step.

  • Head to any Alberta registry and obtain a 3-year driver abstract. Once you receive your abstract you can upload a copy to your driver account by logging into the app.

  • Obtain a Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check from your local police station.

When taking photos of the document, include all four corners of the page and ensure the small print is clear to read. Scanned copies are not accepted.

    • Get your Class 1-55 Vehicle Registration

Visit your nearest Service Alberta Registry to get a Class 1-55 vehicle registration.

    • Vehicle Inspection

Your vehicle must pass an inspection by a certified auto technician. Bring the form below and have him/her complete it. Once you pass the inspection, take a picture and upload it to your profile.

  • City of Edmonton’s rideshare by-law requires you to complete the City of Edmonton Vehicle for Hire Driver Training. You will be enrolled in the training once you open the Uber Driver app. After you have been enrolled, take the training through t.uber.com/Edmonton_VFH_course. Once completed, Uber will generate your Training Certificate and upload it to your driver account.

Alternatively, if you have completed training with another Vehicle for Hire provider, please contact support and upload your City of Edmonton Vehicle for Hire Training Certificate. Our team will add it to your driver account so you can start taking trips.

Uber stickers

When your vehicle inspection and background screening have been approved, we will mail two Uber stickers to your mailing address.

Display the stickers. One sticker must go on the front passenger window and the other must go on the back windshield. The stickers are removable and only need to be displayed when you're driving with Uber.

Once you become an Uber driver, we will mail you a decal. You should receive it within 7 business days. If you ever need a new decal after you become a driver, you can request a new one be mailed to you.
