With 2018 just around the corner, it’s time to dust off your tuxedos and heels and hit the town. And because you’ll want to focus on the parties, champagne, and general merriment, here’s a list of tips and in-app features that’ll make requesting your ride a breeze.
Be budget savvy
With upfront fares, there’s no guesswork in what you’ll pay for your ride. Just enter in your destination, choose the type of vehicle you want, and you’ll see the price of the trip in the app.
Keep the party going past the peak time
Is the fare a bit higher than you expected? You’re probably trying to request during a peak time on NYE (12am to 3am). Sit back, relax, and enjoy the celebration while the post-midnight busyness dies down.
With uberPOOL, you share your ride and the cost with riders going in the same direction. Who knows, you might hit it off with your uberPOOL pal and ride into 2018 with a new friend.
Make sure it’s smooth sailing
With our live location feature, you can temporarily share your real-time location with your driver so they’ll be able to more easily find you in the crowd.
Not sure of the best spot to meet your driver? With our suggested pickup spots, we can point you to a good location. Just look for the dark blue dots when you’re requesting and place your pin on top of the dot. You might have to walk a few steps to get there, but it’ll make for a more seamless pickup.
Looking for your ride in a crowd when it’s dark out can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. With our Beacon windshield icons, you choose the color in the app and it’ll light up the beacon on your driver’s car so you’ll be able to locate each other easily.
This feature is currently only available in Miami, Denver, Nashville, New York City, and San Francisco.
Shout your ride from the rooftop
Is your best friend waiting on you before pouring the champagne? Share your ETA and let them know you’re on your way so they know when to pop the bubbly.
Have a couple of friends to pick up on the way to the party? With our multiple destinations feature you can enter up to 2 additional stops (keep them under 3 minutes, please) before the party starts.
Whether your night consists of giant parties or intimate gatherings, we hope you have a memorable (and safe) New Year’s Eve. And if you’re looking for inspiration, check out how the rest of the world celebrates.
Happy New Year!
