Safety is important to Jodi. As a leader on the communications team that focuses on safety, it’s also part of her job.

Essentially, our role is to educate the public on the safety features that Uber offers,” she says, “and also to develop public awareness initiatives to inform communities and organizations about how Uber can help in their daily lives.”

Part of the challenge of developing safety solutions at Uber is recognizing that issues affect riders and drivers differently. For Jodi, this means working to raise awareness of the features that help people feel safe when using the Uber platform.

“To me, safety really means the confidence and the freedom to get where I need to be without concern for the well-being of me and my family.”

As a mother to son Brady and daughter Blake, Jodi approaches everything with an eye on safety. Her responsibility to her children and family has helped give her a unique perspective on what matters particularly to female riders and drivers who use Uber.

“The best thing about being a mom is coming home every day and just seeing the pure joy, happiness, and refreshing point of view that my kids express,” says Jodi. “Their positive energy and unconditional love is just the greatest thing ever.”

While getting from point A to point B might be all that matters to some riders, women like Jodi want to feel safe above all else when they interact with Uber. For Jodi, working to provide a safe space for those using Uber every day is really important. Whether it’s for a rider accessing a cross-town ride or for a driver earning money for her family, safety is a critical component of Jodi’s contribution to Uber: “I’m helping to move Uber forward by making sure that safety is at the core of everything we do.”
