The big race is almost here and we’ve got your guide to getting to the track and back with Uber on the day of the race. Plus check out all that Louisville has to offer before you head off to the races on May 5 with our guides to restaurants, bars and more.
Dropoffs
Starting on Thursday, May 3 through Saturday, May 5, streets around the main entrance of the racetrack will be closed and drivers will be unable to drop off there. Instead, drivers will be directed to drop off at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium (located at 2800 S Floyd St) in lots F and G where you may walk to the track.
Pickups
- To request a ride, we will have three pickup spots (see map below) around the racetrack:
- Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium
- Winkler St & Rodman St
- Winkler St & 3rd St
- Choose one of pickup spots in your Uber app and then walk to your selected pickup spot to meet your driver
- Please note that there will be barriers along Central Ave and there will be designated pedestrian crossings allowing fans to safely cross the street at:
- 9th St and Central Ave
- 3rd St and Central Ave
- Floyd St and Central Ave
Other pro-tips for riding with Uber
- Give yourself extra time
Heavy traffic and detours around the racetrack and Louisville may lead to higher-then-expected ETAs. - Know before you go
Before you request an Uber, you’ll see the total cost of your ride so there are no unwelcome fare surprises after your ride is over. Fares may fluctuate based on how many people are requesting a ride, so if it’s out of your price range, check back later for lower fares. - Confirm your ride
Make sure to double check that the car’s license plate number matches the one in your Uber app and confirm your name with the driver when getting into the car. - Split the fare
Share an Uber with your crew and split the fare among multiple people. uberX can seat up to 4, while uberXL can handle groups up to 6 passengers.
