Mayor Lloyd Winnecke – Evansville Rider Zero
To celebrate Uber’s newest city in Indiana, Mayor Winnecke took the first uberX ride around Evansville.
We also spoke with Evansville city officials and the General Manager of Uber Indiana to hear their thoughts on the launch:
Mayor Lloyd Winnecke: “Whether it’s complementing our existing public transit network or providing an alternative to drunk driving, ridesharing can play a key role in expanding and connecting our community in new ways. We’re thrilled to welcome Uber to Evansville and look forward to seeing how ridesharing can extend transportation options for residents across the city.”
Commissioner Cheryl Musgrave: “I’m thrilled today to welcome Uber into Vanderburgh County, and I know from happy experience in other great cities the benefits that ridesharing can provide to both riders and drivers. Whether a resident or a visitor, folks across the County now have access to a new, reliable way to get from A to B right from their smartphone.”
Uber Illinois & Indiana General Manager Marco McCottry: “We know Evansville has been calling out for ridesharing and we’re honored to have the opportunity to launch Uber in this community. Starting today Evansville residents now have the option to push a button and get a ride directly from their smartphone, or be connected with new flexible ways to earn.”
