Last year, we announced an exciting program for senior citizens called Freedom In Motion. In collaboration with the City of Gainesville, ElderCare of Alachua County, and the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, Uber was able to provide on-demand transportation for residents of two Gainesville communities as part of a pilot program to help seniors maintain their independence with even more affordable rides. Free technology tutorials were made available, so residents of the participating communities could feel comfortable requesting a reliable ride with Uber.

We are excited to announce that we will be extending this program and will continue offering on-demand transportation to to all seniors in Gainesville!

While this program is currently in Gainesville, we look forward to helping seniors across the country maintain their independence by providing a reliable and affordable transportation option.

Last summer, Uber participated in the White House Conference on Aging and discussed Uber’s efforts to further engage the senior community across the country. Alongside public and private sector representatives, we hope to further the conversation about the way technology adoption can improve older adults’ day-to-day lives.
