Given concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19), we’re working closely with public health officers (PHOs) to provide guidance on how to protect yourself and others.
The following information will help you use Uber Eats with your safety—and the safety of the community—in mind:
“Leave at Door” delivery
Look for the “Leave at door” feature at checkout to help protect yourself, your loved ones, and your community. You can also add delivery instructions like “Leave in my lobby.” Be sure to grab your order quickly when it arrives.
Wash your hands
Based on guidance from public health authorities, it is recommended that you wash your hands with liquid soap and water for at least 20 seconds whenever possible, especially before and after receiving food orders and eating. When soap and water are not available, a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol can help you protect yourself and others.
Restaurant pickup (where available)
If you’ve selected to pick up your Uber Eats order from the restaurant, keep social distancing in mind, especially when waiting for food. Avoid close contact with others in-store, or let the restaurant know you’ll be waiting outside. As with delivery, wash your hands before you eat.
Restaurant health and safety best practices
We are regularly sharing health and safety best practices with our restaurant partners. Based on the most up-to-date information from trusted PHOs, our tips aim to give health and safety guidance on food preparation and delivery, including:
- Encouraging restaurants to ensure that all food is sealed in tamper-evident packaging
- Advising restaurants to monitor staff for symptoms, and to encourage employees to stay home if they feel ill
- Providing tips on the cleaning and disinfecting of high-touch surfaces and the promotion of social distancing in stores
- Urging restaurants to follow guidance from their local PHOs on COVID-19 in their community
Supporting delivery people
We have given guidance to delivery people to stay home if they are feeling unwell, and are working to make sanitizing supplies available to them. Uber is supporting any drivers and delivery people with financial assistance in the event of COVID-19 diagnosis. Please consider tipping to thank delivery people for going above and beyond.
