UiPath’s Uber Eats work perk delivers benefits for all
When new employees at leading business automation company, UiPath, learn about their ability to access Uber Eats via UiPath’s Uber for Business dashboard, there’s a very positive response. ‘They go “wow!”,’ says office manager April Pilley. In a fast-moving business environment, where talent is short and with cost-of-living pressures running high, UiPath decided to offer all of their employees in Australia a weekly allowance to spend on meals using the Uber Eats app. Existing employees are equally enthusiastic. ‘When we announced the benefit on a company all-hands call, everyone was very excited,’ recalls Pilley. It’s a welcomed benefit and when it comes to saving dollars and eating well, ‘it’s one less thing they have to worry about,’ she says.
‘Our workspaces are very central. There are a lot of options around in the cities – from big food courts to restaurants. I haven’t heard anyone say, “I can’t find anything to eat”.’

A big bonus your way
The generous perk that’s geo-tagged to the company’s workspace locations in major eastern state capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra – allows employees to order what they want to eat for breakfast, lunch or even for a late-night meal at the office. It comes with some conditions – no alcohol or groceries – so UiPath remains in control and can customise requirements through the Uber for Business dashboard. ‘We thought about it being a daily allowance but then decided to give people the freedom to choose to spend more on particular days. Some people use the whole week’s allowance all at once. Most use it for lunch or, like me, over a number of days,’ says Pilley, who no longer needs to pack a lunch to bring from home.
Insights for business planning
In a short amount of time, uptake shows orders via Uber Eats has become a highly appreciated added benefit. For employees, the advantages are abundantly clear, while for UiPath, providing the Uber Eats benefit delivers valuable insights for its future workforce planning and resourcing.
Before the pandemic, UiPath’s growing Australian workforce operated from its own offices, but when the sudden remote working trend hit at the outset of Covid, team members switched to working from home and the company opted for co-working arrangements in each city.
Now, UiPath is looking to once more move into its own workspaces in Australia, starting with the Sydney team’s move to premises near Wynyard Station in June. Uber for Business gives UiPath visibility into how many meals are ordered to co-working spaces on any given day, providing critical insights for planning. ‘We’re a flexible workplace now, and this has changed the way we offer benefits to staff,’ Pilley says.
Uber Eats order information via the Uber for Business dashboard is further helping UiPath make evidence-based decisions for office space requirements. ‘At a high level, it gives us a clear picture of how many seats we’re likely to need,’ says Pilley.
‘When we move into our own office with a centralised kitchen, I’m expecting group orders on Uber Eats to deliver a further benefit of bringing everyone together.’

Positives in all-round benefits
As the only administrator in the Australian business, Pilley says she's found the Uber for Business platform easy to use, particularly for onboarding. ‘Uploading a new user is simple, and the admin side of the platform is really helpful. You can see who’s ordering and when they are ordering, even without going into the invoices.’
It’s a thumbs up from UiPath's accounting team members as well, who use Uber for Business reporting data to help calculate Fringe Benefits Tax implications for employees. In the meantime, employees enjoy the time-saving that comes from being able to tap out an order on their phone and have it delivered on busy days or taking a stroll to collect it when time permits.
