Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is the 4th-busiest airport in the world, based on aircraft movement. The primary international airport for the combined metropolitan areas of Dallas and Fort Worth, it is almost equidistant from downtown Dallas (20 miles; 32 kilometers) and Fort Worth (23 miles; 37 kilometers), taking just over 20 minutes to reach the airport from both locations in normal driving conditions.

DFW Airport terminals

DFW is divided into 5 terminals: A, B, C, D, and E. Terminal D is the international terminal with 28 gates, although some international flights depart from Terminal A. DFW Airport lounges are located across all terminals. You can plan your trip using the information below.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport has an extensive selection of dining destinations across all terminals. With more than 100 dining options, travelers have their pick of places to grab food and drinks, including coffee shops, fast-food chains, and DFW Airport bars. Travelers seeking a meal with table service can opt to dine at one of the DFW Airport restaurants.

Getting around DFW

After clearing security, travelers at DFW can use Skylink, a completely automated, 2-way train system that connects all 5 terminals. Trains run every 2 minutes and can travel at up to 35 mph. Each of the 5 terminals has 2 stations, located in the following gate areas:

  • Terminal A: between A13 and A16 and between A28 and A33
  • Terminal B: between B10 and B12 and between B28 and B31
  • Terminal C: between C8 and C12 and between C27 and C31
  • Terminal D: between D11 and D21 and between D24 and D36
  • Terminal E: between E8 and E12 and between E31 and E32

Additionally, before security, Terminal Link connects all terminals with a DFW Airport shuttle bus system.

Things to do at DFW

DFW Airport hosts an art program that features works of local, national, and international artists, including sculptures, paintings, mosaics, and more. Most of these pieces are located after security in Terminal D and the Skylink stations. A play area nearby is for young kids; for older people, 2 gaming destinations (next to Gate 42 in Terminal B and Gate 16 in Terminal E) offer travelers the latest video games, complete with headphones and leather gaming chairs. Two hair salons are located in Terminal A and Terminal D.

Currency exchange at DFW

Dallas Airport currency exchange offices can be found predominantly in Terminal D (International Terminal), near gates 11, 22 (outside security), 24, and 36. Another currency exchange is located in Terminal A near Gate 29.
