Not following any of our Community Guidelines may result in the loss of access to your Uber accounts. Here are a few examples:

  • Drug use and open containers of alcohol are never allowed while using the Uber apps

  • Discriminating against someone based on traits such as age, color, disability, gender identity, marital status, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected under relevant law

  • Knowingly refusing a rider a trip because of their service animal

  • Using the Uber apps to commit any crime

  • Sexual assault or sexual misconduct

The basics of driving families

Children aren't allowed to ride by themselves

Adults can’t request a ride for someone under the age of 18 or allow children to ride alone—they must be accompanied by an adult. When picking up children, confirm that a parent or guardian is traveling with them. If you notice at pickup that your rider looks under 18, you can decline the trip and report it to Uber. Note that refusing or canceling trips on this basis will not affect your driver rating. It’s also a good idea to let your rider know why you can’t accept the trip, so they’re not left wondering what happened.

Small children are required by law to be in a car seat

Riders are responsible for providing car seats when riding with small children. If they didn't bring the appropriate car seat or you’re not comfortable with a rider installing one in your car, you can cancel the ride. Note that refusing or canceling trips on this basis will not affect your driver rating.

How to help prevent underage riding

If your rider looks young, here's how you could handle the situation:

1. When you arrive at the pickup location and your rider looks under 18, you can decline the trip and politely let them know that minors aren't allowed to have an Uber account.

3. Report the incident through the app.
