‘Always have a couple of delivery bags in your car for multiple pick-ups and try keep each customer order separate to avoid delivering the wrong order to the wrong customer and always triple check that you are dropping the correct order to the right customer especially if picked up from the same restaurant. Multiple orders can take longer to deliver and keeping their orders secure and delivering in good condition can get you a thumbs up and sometimes a tip.’

"Keep a torch in the car to see letterbox numbers easily and if the letter box has no number look at the numbers either side to find the right address"

‘Always send a quick message to customers if you’re running a few minutes late. Good communication helps avoid frustration, improves ratings and often leads to better tips. I also keep an insulated delivery bag in my car to ensure food arrives hot and fresh, which customers really appreciate.’
Pranali, Wellington
‘Before you head out, take a minute to plan your route – it'll make your trip much smoother. If the weather turns bad, don't rush; getting there safely is always more important. Be kind to restaurant staff, they're working hard too. And don't forget to smile and be friendly – good vibes can make someone's day, including your own! 😊’

‘I always use an insulated delivery bag and keep customers’ food inside it until I reach their door or meet them for handover. This helps ensure the food stays warm and arrives in good condition.
I also believe that personal hygiene and presentation are important. I make sure to dress neatly and maintain a clean, professional appearance while delivering orders, as this reflects positively on the service and helps create a better experience for customers.’

‘Stay organised and plan your route to the destination especially during peak times, it can make a big difference in how much you earn. Make sure your bike or car is suitable for long shifts, keep your phone charged with reliable data, and always prioritise safety over rushing deliveries. Be friendly, communicate clearly with customers, this can help improve your ratings and the way everyone perceives you. :)’

‘Use your waiting time to preview the drop-off on Google Maps. When I accept an order, I use the waiting time at the restaurant to check the delivery address on Google Maps or Street View. It helps me understand what the house looks like and where it’s located – for example, whether it’s the second house on the street, down a shared driveway or a unit like ‘2/5’ or ‘C/5’. This makes a big difference, especially at night or in dark areas, because I already know what to look for when I arrive. It saves time, reduces confusion, and helps avoid delivering to the wrong place.’
Luk, Auckland
"Customer communication increases tips so I advise drivers to send a quick polite message after accepting orders for example “Hi, picking up your order now. Will be there in ~15 min” and when dropping off: “Order delivered safely to your door. Enjoy your meal!” For “leave at door” orders, always take a clear photo of the bag’s location and send it — customers love this and tip better next time."

"Drive safely & follow speed limits. Smile, be kind, stay positive & stay safe. Rest when needed & have fun 😁"
Moeau, Wellington
