To sign up to drive, you need to be at least 21 years old, have the right to work in New Zealand, and have held a full New Zealand driver’s licence for at least 12 months. - Do I need my own car?
If you want to drive with Uber, third-party vehicle providers give you options to start driving and earning even if you don't have a car. Explore the Uber Marketplace to see what's available. Please note that vehicle options may vary by city.
- Are trips insured?
Yes, if an accident or injury occurs on an UberX or Uber Assist trip anywhere in New Zealand, the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) provides coverage, regardless of fault. What's more, Uber also provides driver-partners with contingent liability coverage that works with your personal car insurance policy to help ensure that other road users are protected in the event of an accident.
