How to drive with Uber in Nigeria

Uber is a great way to be your own boss and make money. Most people are eligible to drive with Uber, even if you don't have a car. Here’s what you need to know if you’re driving in Lagos or Abuja.

Get started

1. Sign up online

Got an email address and a smartphone? Great, now tell us a bit more about yourself and we'll get you started.

2. Upload your documents

There are some of the documents we need to see:

  • Valid Nigerian drivers license
  • Valid LASDRI card (Lagos only)
  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • Driver profile photo
  • Safety screening and virtual info session (click below)

3. Get a vehicle

Make sure that your vehicle is in excellent working and physical condition, so that it meets our standards in Nigeria.

4. Activate your account

If you've completed all the above steps, congratulations! You're ready to activate your account and start making money.

Get your driver's license

Your Nigerian driver's license is easy to obtain from your local driver's license centre. Before uploading your document, make sure that it is a clear copy.

In order to stay on the road, we need your most up to date drivers license. You will receive notifications as your driver's license expiration date is close. You can update your driver's license through partners.uber.com or through the driver app.

Taxpayer identification number

  • A unique number issued to a person (individual or company) as a duly registered tax payer in Nigeria.

  • To be fully compliant with local and national regulations.

    Upload your TIN in vault.uber.com

  • Visit this guide

  • 1) Login to vault.uber.com

    2) Edit bank details

    Click on 'edit' to edit your banking details and scroll to the bottom of the page to add your TIN number.

    3) Click on Submit at the bottom of the page. As easy as that!
