Why now’s the time to go electric with Uber
Written byIf you’re considering switching to an electric vehicle (EV), there won’t be a better moment. With major savings and upcoming test drive opportunities, going electric is now easier — and more rewarding — than ever.
Uber, in partnership with the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE), has rolled out an exciting new incentive program designed to support drivers who are ready to go electric. Here’s what you need to know:
-
- Earn up to $2,000 – Drivers can now earn $100 for every 100 trips they complete in an EV, up to a total of $2,000.¹
- Support every step of the way – Whether you’re new to EVs or ready to upgrade, we’re here to help you navigate your journey.
- Try before you commit – Special test drive event for Uber drivers.
On top of these incentives, you can stack Colorado’s state incentives (up to $6,000 tax credit for a new EV and $6,000 for trading in an old vehicle) with the federal EV tax credit of up to $7,500. The federal tax credit ends on September 30, 2025, so don’t miss out on a total of $21,500 in savings for eligible drivers!
Plus, driving an EV with Uber can come with extra benefits. Drivers of fully electric vehicles are eligible for Uber’s Zero Emissions incentive and can earn an extra $210 for every 200 EV trips completed in a a 30-day period. ² Plus, eligible EVs unlock access to exclusive ride types like Uber Green and Comfort Electric, which can help with more trip requests.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to help support Governor Polis’ Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Roadmap, which outlines Colorado’s plan to cut emissions across all sectors. A key element of that roadmap is the Clean Fleet Enterprise, designed to help Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) like Uber increase the use of zero-emission vehicles. Backed by a $2 million grant from the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE), we’re working together to accelerate EV adoption and make clean transportation more accessible across the state.
Together, we’re doing our part to help ensure that every mile driven is a cleaner one for Coloradans.
The event is sponsored by CDPHE and is organized by EVNoire, a leading e-mobility equity and education organization.

¹ The Colorado Clean Fleet Enterprise Incentive is available starting April 3rd, 2025, for eligible rideshare drivers in Colorado. To qualify, drivers must have completed a minimum of 400 rides in the past six rolling months. The program will operate on a first-come, first-served basis and may end before December 31, 2025, if funds are depleted. Starting April 3rd, 2025, Colorado drivers who: 1) switch to an EV and have not exceeded 100 electric vehicle rides in the past six rolling months; OR 2) who have exceeded 100 electric vehicle rental rides in the past six rolling months but switch to a purchased electric vehicle (e.g. via new purchase, lease conversion, or rental conversion) are eligible for the incentive. Only battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) are eligible. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles are not eligible. Drivers will earn $100 for every 100 trips completed in an EV, up to a maximum of $2,000 for the program period. Only rideshare trips completed on the Uber platform qualify. Uber Black, Uber Eats, Uber Connect, and other delivery trips are not eligible. Canceled rides do not count. Incentive payments will be added to a driver’s account upon completion of the criteria. Payments are typically processed within ten days but may take longer in some cases. Incentives are subject to available funding. Once funds are exhausted, no additional incentives will be paid, even if a driver meets the program criteria. Drivers must meet all eligibility requirements to qualify for the incentive. Uber reserves the right to (1) withhold or deduct payments in the event of errors, suspected fraud, illegality, or violation of driver terms or these terms, (2) change the trip requirements, incentive payouts, or other program details at any time and without notice, and (3) disqualify a vehicle at any time that does not meet the eligibility requirements.
2 The Zero Emissions incentive is available every 30 days to eligible drivers in the U.S. for a limited time. The last day for a driver to be eligible to participate in the incentive is November 3rd, 2025 at 10am PT. Incentive amount varies by city: Drivers in Boston, Western Massachusetts, or Worcester can earn $250 per 30-day period; Drivers in Austin, Bakersfield, Chicago, Colorado Springs, Denver, Fort Collins, Fresno, Houston, Inland Empire, Los Angeles, Miami, Modesto, New Jersey, New Orleans, Orange County, Palm Springs, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, Rockies, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Seattle, Ventura, or Washington, D.C. can earn $210 per 30-day period. New York City drivers can earn $100 per 30-day period. Drivers in all other cities can earn $150 per 30-day period. Offer only available to eligible rideshare drivers who provide zero-emission rides and otherwise meet the incentive criteria during their 30-day incentive period(s). Fleet Drivers are not eligible. A Fleet Driver is defined as a driver who utilizes a vehicle provided by a Fleet to complete trips on the Uber platform. Only battery electric vehicles and fuel cell electric vehicles are eligible. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles are not eligible. Uber Eats, Uber Connect, and other delivery trips are not eligible. Canceled rides do not count. Drivers who complete at least 200 EV rides in a 30-day incentive period will receive the incentive; drivers who complete less than 200 EV rides in an incentive period will not receive the incentive. 30 day incentive periods will be unique to each eligible driver. In cases where the vehicle information provided to Uber is not sufficient for determining whether the vehicle is an EV, the vehicle will not be eligible to receive the incentive. Drivers should become eligible for the incentive within approximately 24 hours of when they take their first trip in a zero-emission vehicle, though sometimes longer. Incentive payments will be added to a driver’s account after completing the incentive criteria. Uber reserves the right to (1) withhold or deduct payments in the event of error, suspected fraud, illegality, or violation of driver terms or these terms, (2) change the trip requirements, incentive payouts, or other offer details at any time and without notice, and (3) disqualify a vehicle at any time that does not meet the eligibility requirements.
