The expanded global transportation and travel program helps consolidate procurement and eliminate the potential for wasteful duplication, paving the way for a new era in federal government operations

SAN FRANCISCO, JULY 16, 2025 — Today, Uber for Business announced a new exclusive contract with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), which enables rideshare access to millions of federal employees and contractors for trips such as business trips, veterans’ healthcare rides, emergency response, victim and witness transportation, and more. This strategic renewal of GSA and Uber for Business’ partnership opens the door to a wealth of innovative opportunities and solutions for federal employees.

Originally awarded in 2020, the contract has now been renewed on an exclusive basis for an additional five years, and expanded to include new features to help further modernize government travel, improve efficiencies, and support U.S. federal government operations domestically and globally.

GSA’s mission is to consolidate procurement across government agencies and help eliminate unnecessary duplication and waste. This aligns with Uber’s commitment to bringing efficient, cutting-edge and tech-driven solutions to the public sector.

“Our renewed partnership with the GSA will help government agencies simplify their travel and transportation needs,” said Uber President and Chief Operating Officer Andrew Macdonald. “We’re paving the way for a future where integrated mobility, meal delivery, and fleet management can help transform the full range of government services.”

Uber for Business has been able to provide government administrators with a comprehensive technology solution. These solutions enable the GSA to modernize federal travel while simplifying expense and reporting processes. New enhancements to the program include:

  • Expanded access for government contractors: Government contractors, with approval from contracting officers, can now access the same benefits as federal employees—helping to streamline processes and reduce costs for the government.
  • International availability: U.S. government employees and contractors can now use Uber for Business everywhere Uber operates—more than 15,000 cities and 70 countries. Uber for Business provides access to a consistent and reliable transportation solution for U.S. federal employees wherever they are, including at embassies and consulates. This also helps strengthen operational agility, streamline administration efforts, and reduce waste and duplication.
  • Business profiles: All federal employees and government contractors will now use an Uber for Business profile for all rideshare activities. The use of business profiles provides the government with enhanced visibility into all business activities on Uber, enabling greater compliance and more control over work-related expenditures.
  • Mission-support use cases: Federal agencies will now be able to leverage Uber for Business’ platform for mission-support transportation needs, such as natural disaster relief efforts.
  • High-capacity vehicles: Federal agencies will now also have the option to access high-capacity vehicles through Uber’s platform, which can accommodate larger groups for fixed office routes, off-site parking, trainings, and more. Uber for Business is empowering the GSA to modernize federal fleets, creating a scalable, efficient solution that reduces the cost and complexity of fleet management.
