“I have a good time with everybody who comes in my car. We always hit on something we laugh about. It’s natural for people to want to open up. I thrive on this.” Chris, UberMILITARY partner since July 2014

Meet Chris – West Virginia native, Columbus transplant, and UberMILITARY partner with a natural knack for helping people in his community and making connections with riders, one jazz song at a time.

The year was 1968, and Chris, like many young men around the country, took fate into his own hands and enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve during the Vietnam War. After completing Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, Chris moved all over the country – NYC, Boston, Seattle and Alaska – spending the last ten years of his career in government compliance for the seafood industry.

In 2014, Chris was anticipating retiring at the end of the year, but looking for something to keep him busy. He began to research opportunities in Columbus that provided a flexible schedule, high earning potential, and the ability to be his own boss. He took his first trip as an Uber partner during Fourth of July weekend and the rest is history. In addition to the rewarding experience of moving people around Columbus, Chris also gets a kick out of all the friends he’s made along the way, “I have a good time. It’s like friends getting in your car! Young friends, primarily, which is always a trip!”

When Chris isn’t on the road, you can find him fly fishing and spending time with his family.

UberMILITARY was launched in September 2014, with the pledge to recruit 50,000 members of the military community to the Uber platform. Learn more about our commitment to men and women service members here!
