Electric Vehicle Data Sharing Terms & Conditions
These Electric Vehicle Data Sharing Terms & Conditions supplement the Platform Access Agreement and all other contracts that govern your access to and use of the Uber Platform. By opting into electric vehicle (EV) data sharing, you authorize and consent to sharing your vehicle’s battery data with Uber so Uber can offer on-demand ride offers within your estimated available mileage range. You acknowledge that you have the necessary rights and licenses, consents, permissions, waivers and releases to share your EV’s battery data.
Uber will periodically receive your EV’s estimated available battery range and use the data to offer eligible on-demand trips that are shorter than your estimated available remaining battery range. If Uber is unable to collect your estimated available battery range, you will receive on-demand ride offers as normal.
Available battery range will vary based on your vehicle type and manufacturer’s range estimation functionality. In addition, range estimates depend on factors such as battery type and size, battery age, weather, speed of travel, idle time, city, acceleration, elevation, and use of vehicle features like air conditioner, heater, radio and heated or cooled seats, and many others.
Uber is providing an estimated available mileage range that is an estimate based on the information we receive from your EV and internal data, and there may be a difference between your EV’s estimated range and actual travel range. Estimated available mileage ranges are estimates only and may not be accurate. You are encouraged to monitor your EV’s actual battery range before accepting trips. By agreeing to these EV Battery Sharing Terms and Conditions, you understand that you may receive fewer trip offers or experience higher wait times between offers to account for eligible trips that meet your estimated available battery range.
Vehicle battery data sharing only applies to on-demand rides trips; it does not apply to Reserve or Eats trips. Only certain EVs are eligible. You can revoke future sharing at any time by disabling vehicle data sharing for all your vehicles (to disable, navigate to Menu > Vehicles > Connect your Vehicles).
To enable these features and support their functionality and accuracy, Uber may work with third-party partners such as Volteras and Smartcar. In this context, Uber shares certain vehicle-related data, such as your VIN, with these partners and receives battery-related data in return. These partners process such data under their own privacy notices and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Any electric vehicles you add in the future will be subject to the same data sharing and these terms. You can manage your connections and opt out of data sharing with these partners at any time. Uber will only receive and use the data as described in these terms.
