- What is Uber’s tipping policy?
You are free to tip and drivers are free to accept tips at any time.
- How do I tip my driver?
The easiest way to tip your driver is through the app. At the end of your trip, you’ll be prompted to rate your driver. Once you provide a 5-star rating, you’ll be given the option to add a tip. You are free to tip and drivers are free to accept tips at any time.
Where available, you may also tip through the app, on riders.uber.com, and from your emailed trip receipt.
- Why can’t I see an option to add a tip?
You may need to update your app to ensure you have the latest version. Additionally, some drivers may opt to not accept tips via the app.
- When can I tip my driver?
You can tip your driver once your trip is complete. Tips are neither expected nor required. After a trip has ended, you have 30 days to add a tip in the app, on riders.uber.com, or from your emailed trip receipt.
- When can I tip my delivery partner?
You can tip your delivery partner once your delivery is complete. Tips are not required. After a trip has ended, you have 7 days to add a tip in the app or from your emailed receipt.
- How can I tip past trips?
After a trip has ended, you have 30 days to add a tip in the app, on riders.uber.com, or from your emailed trip receipt.
- How much of my tip goes to the driver vs. Uber?
Uber takes zero fees on tips.
- How does tipping work when using Split Fare?
The rider who originally requested the trip will be able to select the tip amount for a trip. If a tip is added by the original requester, it will not be split with the other passengers.
- Can I tip my driver but not give them a rating?
Before you can provide a tip in the app, you will first need to rate your driver. If you tip directly from the trip receipt, you will not be prompted to rate the trip.
- Can I use credits or a gift card to tip a driver?
Credits and gift cards will all work for tips. However, promotions cannot be used to tip your driver.
