Market Lead - Poland, Retail
About the Role
Leading at Uber means setting direction in motion, not waiting for perfect conditions. Poland is a high-priority strategic market for Uber in EMEA. As the Market Lead for Poland, you will be responsible for leading the Grocery and Retail business, a key growth motor for Uber. This role requires a leader who can manage a complex scope across operations, commercial strategy, financial performance, and stakeholder management to unlock new opportunities in this dynamic market.
What You Will Do
- Set Direction in Motion: Own the Poland Retail & Grocery roadmap, making decisions on resource allocation and sequencing investments. You will balance the needs of established partners with the requirements of new, high-growth opportunities.
- Own the Outcome: Take full E2E P&L accountability for the Polish retail business. You will manage the financial health of the market, navigating external risks and competitive landscape changes.
- Build High-Performing Teams: Lead and coach the local team, helping them unblock market-specific challenges and driving excellence across the Polish organization.
- Navigate Complexity: Influence the Central Ops and EMEA roadmap through stakeholder management. You will ensure that Poland-specific requirements are prioritized within the broader European organization.
- Solve for the Real World: Maintain operational resilience by navigating external variables, including local regulatory shifts and competitive pressures unique to the Polish market.
- Lead Through Influence: Partner with Sales and Commercial teams to identify and secure "must-win" merchants, acting as the executive lead in negotiations to grow long-term partnerships.
- Drive Clarity at Speed: Synthesize complex market inputs into actionable strategic narratives, ensuring your team and EMEA stakeholders are aligned on the path forward.
What You Will Need
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in strategy, operations, consulting, or a related field.
- Team leadership: Proven experience managing high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Business ownership: Direct experience owning business performance and P&L management.
- Fluent Polish & English

- Market Expertise: Prior experience managing operations or strategy within the Polish or European retail/tech ecosystem
- Grit & Adaptability: A track record of thriving in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and navigating the unique operational nuances of an on-demand / marketplace tech ecosystem.
- Systems Thinking: High proficiency in data analysis with the ability to "live in the dashboards" to identify underlying drivers of business performance.
- Storytelling: Exceptional ability to communicate complex data and market trends to global stakeholders with clarity and conviction.
