Celebrating one year of uberX in Montreal

MONTREAL’S DRIVER-PARTNER COMMUNITY
It all started with Alexandre Despatie as our first rider getting picked up byour driver-partner, François. Since then, we’ve not only given everyone in the city access to a safe, reliable, and affordable ride, but we’ve provided a flexible earning opportunity to many people in Montreal. Our partners have not only earned a respectable income, they’ve covered a lot of ground.
Our driver-partners are the heart and soul of Uber. People tell us that driving on the Uber platform is liberating – there’s no schedule, no boss, and better income through modern technology. They can spend more time with their kids, save for their next vacation and enjoy the flexibility.
KEEPING MONTREAL MOVING
Montreal’s support of uberX has been incredible. Over 20,000 new people download the app every month in the city. Our partners and riders have traveled more than 7 million km on uberX in the last year alone. We’ve averaged 300,000 requests a month,which means 1 request every 9 seconds!
Also as we can’t stress enough the importance of making a responsible choice after a night out. That’s why we brought UberSAFE to the streets of Montreal in June.
HAVING FUN ALONG THE WAY
While safety, reliability, and affordability remains our top priority – we still love putting a smile on our community’s face.We offered up poutines, kitten playdates, pumpkins, spring cleaning with Montreal Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and an exclusive experience at Igloofest with Detroit Swindle – all at the tap of a button.
For all of these reasons, we can’t thank our riders and driver-partners enough for the tremendous support, especially to those who’ve joined us in our pursuit to help the city draft smart ridesharing regulations. We look forward to tackling some of the biggest challenges facing our city in the years ahead!
