Uber will move forward in Spain
Language: Español | English
Since the launch of Uber in Spain, both locals and those visiting Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia have embraced a new form of alternative transport – more efficient, safe and reliable. Tens of thousands of riders and thousands of drivers have connected to our platform to move around the city!
Yesterday, we all found ourselves with a sudden and unusual preliminary ruling that is incompatible with the broad political and social acknowledgement of the benefits of the collaborative economy in Spain and across the European Union.
This movement is part of a larger societal shift to establish a global environment that claims and promotes sharing, and in doing so provides more choices for people. In this context, uberPOP is revolutionising the way in which cities move, enabling i) affordable and safe journeys for passengers, ii) drivers to share the costs of owning a vehicle and iii) a more efficient use of existing cars, reducing the number of cars on the road and contributing to the construction of the cities of the future!
Our commitment in Spain is clear: we will continue to stand by and support our community of riders and drivers, in compliance with Spanish legislation and will appeal this sudden and unusual preliminary ruling.
