As part of this commitment to reducing congestion and carbon emissions on the road, we’re celebrating Transport Month by challenging you to share the journey! Did you know that you can reduce congestion, fuel consumption and carbon emissions simply by ditching your keys and sharing a ride with friends or family? 
For the next two weeks, we’re rewarding you for sharing the ride. Simply use the in-app Split Fare or Multiple Stops feature(s) to reach the below trip goals and stand a chance to win!
What are your trip goals?
Split Fare 
Take 4 Split Fare rides and stand a chance to win R500 in discounted Uber rides 
Take 8  Split Fare rides and stand a chance to win R1000 in discounted Uber rides 
Multiple Destinations

How does Split Fare work:
1. Request a ride.
2. Before or during the ride, swipe up from the bottom of the app.
3. Tap your selected payment method.
4. Tap ‘Split Fare’.
5. Enter the name(s) or phone numbers of the other rider(s).
6. Your fellow riders are immediately sent a notification request to accept your split fare. 

How does Multiple destinations work:
1. Open the Uber app and tap  “Where To?”.
2. Tap the “+” to the right of the box.
3. Tap “Add a Stop” to add your first destination.
4. Tap “Add a Stop” if you wish to add a second stop.
5. Tap “Save”. The fine print 
The Fine Print:
Split Fare: when the trip request is made with your account, you can invite other riders to split the fare. If anyone chooses to not accept or if they do not have a valid payment method linked to their Uber account, the fare will be split between the riders who accept and have a valid payment method.
Split Fare rides can only be split before the trip(s) end. 
Split Fare is not valid on cash trips.
Multiple destinations is limited to 3 destinations only.

Split Fare & Multiple Destinations – Terms and Conditions

Eligibility Requirements; Participation: The following eligibility requirements and participation criteria apply:
- The opening time and date of the Promotion is 13 October 2017 and the Promotion will end at 11:59 p.m. on 31 October 2017 (the “Promotion Period”).
- Participants can only take part in the competition based on one feature, Split Fare feature or Multiple Destinations Feature.
- The Promotion is open to individuals who
  are a legal resident of South Africa aged 18 years or over, except any director, member, partner, employee or agent of, or consultant to Uber B.V. (“Uber”), any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by Uber, or any third party directly associated with administration of the prize competition;
  
  have been selected by Uber to be given the opportunity to participate in the Promotion based on objective criteria to be determined and applied by Uber at its sole discretion
- During the Promotion Period, Uber will communicate to you a “trip goal,” which shall be the number of completed trips that you need to take within a prescribed period of time (explained below) in order to be eligible for entry in the prize draw.
- A completed trip means a trip in which the rider has requested a trip through the Uber Application (“Uber App”), been collected from a pick-up point (and the driver has started the trip through the Uber App), dropped off at a prescribed destination/s (and the driver has ended the trip through the Uber App), and received a receipt for the trip taken.
  
  Neither trips taken outside of the week nor outside of your country of residence will not be considered towards the trip goal.
- Uber accepts no responsibility for trips not successfully completed due to a force majeure event or technical fault including, but not limited to, technical malfunction, computer hardware or software failure, satellite, network or server failure of any kind.
Competition:
- A participant must select to participate in the ‘splitfare’ or ‘multiple destinations’ competition and cannot participate in both simultaneously.
- Trips will be tallied based on the number of rides completed through one of the two features.
- Individuals who meet the trip goals outlined will receive an entry into a draw for a Prize of either R500 or R1000 discounted Uber rides in South Africa.
  No further consideration will be required to enter the drawing.
  
  The entry into the drawing is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered.
- Winners for each trip goal will be randomly chosen —
  10 winners – Complete x4 Split fare trips between 13 October 2017- 31 October 2017. Prize R500 in discounted Uber rides.
  
  4 winners – Complete x8 Split fare trips between 13 October 2017- 31 October 2017. Prize R1000 in discounted Uber rides.
  
  10 winners – Complete x5 multiple destinations trips between 13 October 2017- 31 October 2017. Prize R500 in discounted Uber rides, and
  
  4 winners – Complete x10 multiple destinations trips between 13 October 2017- 31 October 2017. Prize R1000 in discounted Uber rides.
- Winners will be notified by email to the email account registered to their Uber user account by 5:00 pm (EAT) on Friday 3 November 2017 .
- If within one (1) week of being notified by Uber, a Winner does not inform Uber in writing of his/her acceptance of the Prize (which will include consent to participating in publicity related to the Prize such as, but not limited to, the publication of the Winner’s name and photograph in any media), then the Winner’s Prize will be forfeited. Uber will hold another drawing and randomly select a new drawing winner and will continue to do so until a winner has accepted the Prize.
  Such publicity rights will not incur any remuneration.
Regarding the Prize
- The Prize will be a discount of up to R100 on each ride that the Winner takes through the Uber App within one year’s time of the application of the Prize to the Winner’s Uber account.
- The Prize will be redeemable (i) only on trips taken in cities in South Africa in which the Uber app is available; (ii) subject to the standard terms and conditions governing access and use of the Uber App by all riders; and (iii) subject to the availability of Uber partner-drivers at the time of requesting.
- The Prize is valid up to one (1) year from the date that the Prize is applied to the Winner’s Uber account.
- The Prize cannot be combined with any promotional codes or other promotions.
- A participant cannot win more than one Prize. Upon accepting a Prize, the participant will not be eligible to win entry into any subsequent drawings.
- The Prizes (or any part of them) are non-exchangeable, non-transferable, cannot be duplicated, are not for sale, has no cash value, and no substitution by the Winner or cash alternative is offered.
- Uber reserves the right to replace the Prizes (or any part of them) with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond Uber’s control make it necessary to do so.
General
- To redeem the offer, you must have a smartphone with GPS capability, have downloaded the Uber app or signed-up at https://get.uber.com/sign-up/, registered and have active internet connection. Uber user Terms and Conditions (https://www.uber.com/legal/terms/za/) and Privacy Statement (https://www.uber.com/legal/privacy/users/en/) apply.
- This offer entitles you entry into a draw for a prize based on Splitfare or Multiple Destination trip targets taken between 13 October 2017 and 31 October 2017 SAST (“Promotion Period”).
- The offer can be redeemed by reaching trip targets as outlined by Uber for Split Fare or Multiple trips on your account.
- The offer is valid only during the Promotion Period
- The offer cannot be transferred, duplicated or sold and there is no cash value.
- The offer cannot be combined with any other discounts, codes or promotions.
- The offer is limited to rides starting and ending in cities in which Uber operates in South Africa.
- Successful redemption of the offer are subject to the availability of Uber partner-drivers.
- When the ride request is made with your account, you can invite other riders to split the fare. If anyone chooses not to accept, or doesn’t have a valid payment method linked to their Uber account, the fare will be split between the riders who accept and have a valid payment method.
- Split fares cannot be split after the trips ends and payment methods have been charged.
- Split fare not valid on cash trips.
- Any active promotions on your account will only apply to your share of a split fare.
- Multiple destinations are limited to a number of three stops.
- Access to and use of the Promotional Code and Uber App will be subject to the standard terms and conditions applicable to all riders who use the Uber App.
