The end of the year in every country is a time for festivals and celebrations, and Uganda is no exception. Kampala is one of the best cities to be in this December, with a series of Christmas events that are perfect for celebrating with friends and family.
There are countless Christmas carol performances, large and small, around different venues and churches in Kampala. One you might want to attend in particular is the Christmas Candle Light Production at Christ’s Church Uganda, performed by the church’s Mass choir. The night will be comprised by carol singing, traditional readings, as well as dramatic performances of nativity scenes and will help to raise money for gifts and meals for underprivileged children in Kampala.
An Evening of Christmas Music
If you can’t get enough Christmas music, or want something beyond the traditional caroling, head over to the Ugandan National Theatre for an evening of Christmas music on the 19th of December. This will be the third edition of the Quintet Band’s Christmas performance, presenting alongside a number of local choir groups.
Kampala Fun Run & Christmas Party
It’s always difficult to get active in the Christmas season, so why not do things differently this year with a fun run? Activate Uganda will be putting on their final race of 2018 with the Kampala Santa Hat Fun Run on the 16th of December. The race will set off from and end at the Kaazi Sailing Club, with runners racing round the course in their Christmas wear before the Christmas party celebration. Get your running shoes ready and prepare for a BBQ and prizes.
Grab an Uber when heading to the various events this December and save on petrol and the frustration of finding parking. It’s safe, reliable and affordable and you can share your ETA and other details with friends and family. You can also share fares with your friends, making it easier to travel in groups and your holiday stress-free.
