Whether it’s watching the fireworks at MBS or partying the night away at Sentosa, people will rely on Uber to get to and from the festivities so they don’t need to get behind the wheel. Even on one of the busiest nights of the year, anyone, anywhere should be able to push a button and get a ride within minutes.
To help make it easier for you to use Uber during our busiest times, we’ve put together some tips on how to ride safe and ride smart.
Tips for getting a ride faster:
- Ride together with Multiple Destinations: Start the party early and share an Uber with your friends and family by picking them up en route to your NYE plans.
- Share the costs with Split Fares: Whether you’re picking your friends up using Multiple Destinations or meeting at the same place to catch your ride, split the fare in-app with your friends at the tap of a button.
- uberPOOL: If we get more people into fewer cars, there will be more Ubers available for everyone to enjoy. Up to 40% more affordable than uberX, you can share a ride with others heading in the same direction with uberPOOL.
Safety tips for a smoother ride:
- Get in the right car: Before you get in the car, confirm that the licence plate, colour of the car, driver’s photo and name match the details indicated in the app to ensure you are getting in the right car.
- Share your trip status: Whether you’re early, late, or right on time, keep your family and friends posted by sharing your trip details with them straight from the app. While en route, tap “Share status” in-app to share your driver’s details and your location with your loved ones.
- Protect your personal information: You need not share your phone number or other contact information with your driver. If a rider and driver need to contact each other, the Uber app automatically anonymises both phone numbers to protect everyone’s privacy. You can also reach your driver safely via in-app chat.
- Contact support: If you lose an item or encounter any issues, do report it through your trip receipt in-app or via help.uber.com.
- Be kind and respectful: Driving can be stressful so don’t forget to leave your driver a compliment or a thank you note. To help make Uber better for everyone, make sure to follow our Community Guidelines to ensure that both riders and drivers treat each other with respect.
