Eid Al Adha starts on the 10th day of Dhu’l Hijjah, with the celebrations this year falling between Sunday the 11th of August and Thursday the 15th August in the Gregorian calendar. For many Qataris, the second Eid is a time of pilgrimage to the sacred city of Mecca, but there are also plenty of spectacular celebrations planned for those spending Eid Al Adha 2019 in Doha.
While many of this year’s Eid Al Adha entertainments are yet to be announced yet, Doha has in place an annual tradition of celebrating the festival with exciting fireworks, fantastic entertainment and activities to bring families together.
What’s more, Eid Al Adha will once again take place over a three-day public holiday, from the 12th–14th of August. So, start planning to spend some quality time with family and friends, as there’s no reason to stay at home during Eid in Qatar.
Everyone loves a firework display and filling the sky with dazzling lights is a great way to mark the festival of Eid Al Adha. While you can expect to see the sky above Doha lit up with both private and public firework shows, the Katara Cultural Village has a reputation for putting on a dazzling display. Generally marking the end of each day of Eid Al Adha celebrations, the Katara fireworks displays take place in the late evening and fill the sky with a colorful demonstration to celebrate Eid.
Qatar really comes alive at Eid, and Eid al Adha 2019 is no exception. Alongside fantastic fireworks and festivities, many of Doha’s famous shopping malls run special promotions and events. And of course, the city has plenty of other events to enjoy during the festival:
Crowd-Pleasing Musical Performances
Music and singing are a great way to bring people together and celebrate the family focus of Eid Al Adha. Which is why some of the most popular events for Eid in Doha are the music performances at Katara Cultural Village, with previous years featuring performances by the band from the Police Training Institute. Whilst not confirmed yet, you can expect more of the same this year during Eid al Adha 2019.
If you’re bringing a crowd for the musical performances at Katara, Uber XL has all the space you need to travel in comfort.
Interactive Children’s Entertainment
With Eid Al Adha’s focus on family, it should come as no surprise that children’s entertainment always features heavily during Eid in Doha. In the past, the Qatar Mall has provided shows for children on its Ooredoo stage, with educational performances featuring favorite characters from a variety of kids cartoons and TV shows. You’ll find similar kinds of entertainment, from circus acts to kids pantomimes and more, at Villagio Mall, City Center Doha and other malls in the city.
Once the little ones are ready for bed, you can use the Uber Family Profile to help get everyone home for the night without a fuss.
Of course, preparing and sharing food is a key part of Eid Al Adha, so it’s a good thing that there are so many excellent restaurants to choose from to celebrate Eid in Doha.
If you’re checking out the Eid Al Adha celebrations at the Katara Cultural Village, why not visit MAMIG or the Khan Farouk Tarab Cafe for a taste of traditional Armenian and Lebanese food. Or, since you’re so close to the sea, sample its scrumptious bounty at the L’wzaar Sea Food Restaurant.
At the Mall of Qatar, you can indulge your sweet tooth at Alison Nelson Chocolate Bar or get that traditional American steakhouse experience at the Texas Roadhouse – there’s a whole lot on offer during the 5-day weekend.
Eid Al Adha is Doha is packed in with amazing experiences, sights, sounds, and food for all the family and with Uber, you can see it all in style and comfort.
