Pride is a time when we’re all uniting for the same thing—equality. From the front seat to the back, inside the car and out, Uber stands with our global LGBTQ+ community on this journey.
We all look, think, and love differently, but we all march for the same thing: Equality. As we gather on common ground to drive progress, we’re reminded that we are not alone. And that to go forward, we must go together. Just as Uber does with every trip, the Amsterdam Gay Pride creates opportunities for individuals to come together and move as one.
The Canal Parade Amsterdam, themed “hero”, kicks off at 1 pm on Saturday the 4th of August. Join hundreds of thousands of people, getting together to celebrate love, diversity, happiness and everything else that makes PRIDE such a special part of Amsterdam.
Route: Oosterdok – Nieuwe Herengracht – Amstel – Prinsengracht – Westerdok.
Every year, we get the opportunity to stand—and march—with the employees, drivers, and delivery partners who stand with Uber every day. Read here a few stories of members of the LGBTQ+ community who will be joining us on this year’s path to Pride and our larger journey to equality for all.
AMSTERDAM PRIDE UBER TIPS
With so much Pride going on, you can imagine, it’s rather busy around the Amsterdam city centre. To make sure you’re able to get from A-to-B as safely and smoothly as possible, we’re sharing some expert travel tips to give you a headstart on your Amsterdam Pride plans:
Tip 1
Parts of the city will be closed to make way for the festivities and the Amsterdam Canals are closed off for traffic. To avoid this affecting your journey, we recommend you arrange a convenient pickup location with your Uber driver. An ideal place would be just outside the city centre, which will make it easier for your driver to reach you. See the map below for more info about the streets during Pride weekend where cars are not allowed on Friday August 3, between 5pm and 2am and Saturday August 4, between 11am and Sunday 2 am.
Tip 2
To help you find each other, or if you need to give your Uber driver some additional pickup instructions, you can use the handy and anonymous ‘Contact’ feature. This allows you to get in touch via chat or phone with your driver directly to discuss the finer details. Don’t forget, when your driver turns up, always make sure the licence plate corresponds with the one highlighted in the Uber app.
Tip 3
Busy times often means that Uber’s dynamic fares can change. More traffic on the roads can increase the estimated travel time or distance, especially if you need to take an alternative route. If this is the case, we recommend that you keep notifications turned on in your Uber app, which will alert you if the dynamic fare no longer applies.
