What this means for you

Get help with medical costs if you’re injured in an accident while on an Uber trip. If your injuries stop you from driving, you can also get help with lost earning opportunities.

Your customers are insured too

While on an Uber trip in Jordan, your passengers are also automatically covered by injury protection insurance at no cost to them.

  • What are the key features of cover?

    Partner Injury Protection provides cover for specific events that occur while a Partner is On-Trip. The key features are listed below. For key details please read this information from Delta Insurance.

    1. Medical cover: If an accident happens On-Trip, this cover reimburses you for necessary medical costs you have incurred following the accident (e.g. X-ray, operations, medicines) up to a capped sum.
    2. Death and repatriation payments: In the unfortunate event that you die as a result of an accident On-Trip, your dependents or heirs will benefit from a lump sum payment.
    3. Permanent disability payments: In the unfortunate event that you suffer a permanent disability as a result of an accident On-Trip, you will benefit from a lump sum payment. The amount depends on the severity of the disability, as determined by Delta Insurance.
    4. Daily payment benefit (injury): If you are hospitalised for more than 48 hours as a result of an accident that happened On-Trip and are thereafter unable to work because of your injuries, you will receive a daily payment for up to 30 days whilst you are medically certified by a Doctor as unfit to work.

    *Note: All above covers are subject to prescribed conditions, exclusions and limits, which Uber may amend at its discretion in its capacity as the policyholder.

  • What are the terms & conditions?

    This insurance is provided to you subject to the following terms:

    1. Uber may withdraw, update or modify this insurance at any time in its sole discretion.
    2. This insurance is procured by Uber at its own discretion and cost as the policyholder, and therefore Uber is not the provider of insurance nor is it acting as a briker or an agent of the insurance provider.
    3. Drivers Partners shall not in any way be responsible or liable for any payments or premiums relating to the insurance whatsoever.
    4. The Driver Partner and Uber acknowledge and agree that the Driver Partner can decide to opt-out from being covered by the Insurance at any time by indicating they are declining the protection of the cover upon notice or request. Declining cover will not affect your ability to use the Uber App.
    5. Driver Partners are independent contractors. This Insurance does not in any way create an employment relationship or an expectation of employment (including from a labour law, tax law or social security law perspective) between Uber and the Driver Partner.
  • Why is Uber doing this?

    Sometimes accidents happen on the road. We want to help you protect yourself against medical costs and lost earning opportunities due to accidental injuries sustained while you’re On-Trip. We are proud to be industry leaders with Delta Insurance in being your partner on the road.

  • What does today’s announcement mean?

    We have been working closely with Delta Insurance to develop new products. These product offerings are now available to driver and riders in Jordan. The new program launched on Nov 15,2018. Coverage is effective since then.

  • Can all Uber partners get this insurance?

    Yes, all Uber partner drivers are now covered by this insurance, but you can decline if you prefer (see the next question to find out how).

  • I don’t want this insurance. How do I say “no”?

    It is your decision whether you are covered by this insurance program. You are free to say “no” at any time with no consequences. If you decline, you will no longer be protected by Partner Injury Protection coverage, including help with medical costs and lost earning opportunities if you’re in an accident while on an Uber trip.   • Where is Injury Protection provided?

    Injury Protection is provided in the following countries where Uber operates Rides. On Nov 15, 2018 this includes Pakistan, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt.

  • Does Injury Protection replace my own commercial vehicle motor insurance?

    No, Partner Injury Protection does not provide commercial vehicle insurance nor is it a substitute for comprehensive vehicle insurance. Please contact your insurer, broker or agent if you have any questions regarding your motor insurance.

  • Does Injury Protection replace my own Medical Insurance Policy?

    No, medical treatment cover is not a substitute for a medical insurance policy. The cover provided for medical treatment is related to accidents that happen On-Trip only.

  • What does “On-Trip” mean? When am I covered?

    Cover is in place from the moment you accept a trip, during the trip and through to when the trip ends. Please visit this link to see the full policy details.

  • How do I activate my coverage?

    You do not need to do anything. You are protected whenever you’re On-Trip using the Uber App as of Nov 15, 2018.

  • What is not covered?

    Like most insurance policies, Injury Protection has some general and cover-specific exclusions. Please read the full policy details and exclusions here.

  • How do I claim?

    In the event you’ve been in an accident and think you might have a claim, please submit a claim via one of the following channels:
