Uber today announces a new round of our “Move What Matters” program in Hong Kong amid the third wave of coronavirus crisis, donating 10,000 Uber Medics rides to healthcare workers who are fighting the virus at any hospital in Hong Kong^, an offer valued up to HK$1 million.

Just three months ago in May this year, Uber donated 44,000 free Uber Eats meals to healthcare professionals and supporting staff at the seven major acute hospitals of the clusters, to uplift our healthcare workers with a hearty meal. Uber also donated 10,000 free rides to non-government organisations (NGOs) in Hong Kong to help NGOs move their members around in safety and comfort. As Hong Kong tirelessly fights the pandemic, Uber continues to play our part with a gesture of appreciation for healthcare workers who put their lives on the line to help others.

Estyn Chung, General Manager of Uber Hong Kong said: “While the third wave in Hong Kong took us by surprise, the backbone of our healthcare system once again stepped in to save lives. It’s at times like these when we’re reminded that what you do for your community matters. With this in mind, Uber is thankful to be able to step in and do our part — to support healthcare workers by being there for their first or last mile of the day.”

Keep the City moving together

Uber has built a solid community in its six years in Hong Kong. In challenging times we’ll continue to serve Hong Kongers and support those who are keeping the city moving — from healthcare workers, to riders, driver-partners, delivery-partners, and restaurant-partners.
