The 2020 Lost & Found Index – Hong Kong Edition
Written byUber’s second annual Hong Kong Lost & Found Index is here! In 2019, Hong Kongers ranked third in our list of the most forgetful cities in APAC. Hong Kongers, despite being well-known for our high efficiency, tend to leave things behind when we’re rushing about.
Similar to 2019, phones, umbrellas, and wallets are the most commonly forgotten items. What is surprising is that products that are small as a lego block or large as a pillow, are also being left behind. Saturday — Hong Kongers’ most anticipated day of the week — is also most prone to forgetfulness. Among the 18 districts, riders in Yau Tsim Mong are the most forgetful, followed by Central and Wan Chai.

- Tap “Your Trips” and select the trip where you left something
- Tap “I lost an item”
- Tap “Contact driver about a lost item”
- Scroll down and enter the phone number you would like to be contacted at. Tap submit.
- If you lost your personal phone, enter a friend’s phone number (you can do this by logging into your account on a computer, or using a friend’s phone).
- Your phone will ring and connect you directly with your driver’s mobile number.
- If your driver picks up and confirms that your item has been found, coordinate a mutually convenient time and place to meet for its return to you.
- If your driver doesn’t pick up, leave a detailed voicemail describing your item and the best way to contact you.
The best way to retrieve a lost item is to call the driver – but if you leave your phone itself in an Uber, you can login to your account on a computer. Uber’s 24/7 customer service always has your back even If you are unable to reach the driver-partners.
