Uber launches campaign to help the hospitality sector get back on its feet: 

Offering 50% off rides 

  • From 12 April, users can claim the discount by using the promo code THEPUBAWAITS*
  • The Good Pub Guide has curated a list of top pubs in cities across England that the promo code can be used to travel to
  • In a nationwide poll, 13 million adults said they’ll be going to a pub that is practicing social distancing next week

8th April 2021 – As restrictions ease on 12 April, Uber is set to launch a campaign to help support pubs and the wider hospitality sector across England by offering a 50% discount (up to £6 to the first 30,000 riders or when the offer ends on 16th May) to those heading out for the first time. 

The offer will go live on 12 April, when groups of six or two households will be able to meet at pubs, restaurants or cafes that have outdoor seating.  

To encourage people to visit their local and help landlords get back on their feet, Uber has also partnered with The Good Pub Guide to compile a list of top 150 pubs across the country that have outdoor spaces. Pubs include Highbury Vaults in Bristol, The Perch in Oxford and Black Lion in Brighton. The full list can be found below. 

To use the offer, users should enter the promo code THEPUBAWAITS in their app before booking a trip. The code is valid until 16 May or when 30,000 riders have applied the code. To avoid any initial overcrowding, riders are encouraged to always book their table ahead.

It comes as a nationwide poll revealed that 13 million adults will be visiting the pub next week with half citing supporting the sector – which has struggled during lockdown – as the reason for their visit.

Half (48%) of people said they felt safe returning to the pub, with 74% happy to sit outdoors to help stop the spread of COVID. Over half (52%) said pubs reopening makes them feel as though they are returning to normal life.

That is why we are offering users 50% discounted trips to those who are looking to venture out and return to their favourite local, as we all look towards brighter times ahead.”
